About This Blog
This blog was not created out of a love of all things frilly. Believe it or not, I’m just not that girly. It grew out of my journey for self-acceptance. I have been a thick chick all of my adult life, struggling to make peace with my body. At the age of 35 I made the decision to abandon self-loathing; three decades of suffering was enough (come on, even murderers get parole!). Surfing for resources to help me finally exorcise my body image demons, I discovered the blogosphere and I haven’t looked back.
To celebrate my newfound confidence, I decided to buy myself a cute and comfortable piece of sleepwear. It was to be symbolic – a gesture to show that I can feel beautiful, and love my body from head to toe. Frustrated by the options in my local stores, I eagerly headed into cyberspace for shopping. After a couple hours of surfing, I was honestly underwhelmed by what I found. Either it was super-duper sexy and not fit for sleeping (think crotch-less, booby-less, or something that comes with a whip) or it was more of the same boring, shapeless pieces that I already had in abundance. I finally settled on a little chemise from an online merchant I had never heard of. A few days later I ripped open my package to find the crappiest piece of crap that has ever been sent through the Postal Service. Crap! Cheap material, poor workmanship, and an odd fit meant that I would look better wearing the bag that it came in. AHHHHH (primal scream)!!!
That crappy nightie became my muse. I wanted to create a blog to do what that chemise couldn’t – celebrate the beauty of our plus size bodies. Here we’ll laugh, cry, and learn but never talk diets or weight loss (go to one of the MILLIONS of other sites to brag about your newest “eating plan”). Plus, I’ll keep searching for decent lingerie and I’ll share it with you.
